THE WORD OF ALLAH

"And there are amongst them, the unlettered ones who do not know the Book, but vain desires." (2 :71)

The Holy Qur'an says:
"The likeness of those who are entrusted with the Law of Moses, yet apply it not, is as the likeness of the ass carrying books." (62: 5)

Abu Darda' (Allah be pleased with him) reported that we were in the company of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He (the Holy Prophet) looked towards the sky and mentioned a matter saying: "That will be at the time when knowledge departs." Ziad b. Labid Ansari (Allah be pleased with him) asked, "How can knowledge part when we recite the Qur'an and teach it to our children and they will teach it to their children up till the Day of Resurrection?" He (the Holy Prophet) replied, "I am astonished at you, Ziad. I thought you were the most learned man in Medina. Do not these Jews and Christians read the Torah and the Injil (Bible) without knowing a thing about their contents?"" Tirmidhi transmitted it, saying this is a hasan gharib hadith.

'Aisha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that when the following Verse was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) :

"Lo! in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the difference of night and day, and the ships which run upon the sea with that which is of use to men, and the water which Allah sendeth down from the sky, thereby reviving the earth after its death, and dispersing all kinds of beasts therein, and (in) the ordinance of
the winds, and the clouds obedient between heaven and earth: are signs (of Allah's Sovereignty) for a people who have sense." (2 : 164)

he (the Holy Prophet) said: There is a destruction for a person who recited this Verse but did not ponder over it. Ibn Hibban transmitted it.

The Focus on Calling to Tawheed (Islamic Monotheism)

“…The greatest and most important issue is the topic of Islamic creed, the topic of Tawheed and that which opposes it (ash-Shirk).

Tawheed is the reason that Allah sent all of the Messengers, revealed the Books, and created both Jinn and mankind. The rest of the rulings then followed it (Tawheed). The Glorified says: {And I did not create Jinn and men except to worship me.} (adh-Dhaariyaat:56)…”

“…This is the original foundation, the greatest understanding that is most befitting to be written about by the people of knowledge. It is the most befitting to be focused upon by the callers of guidance and those who assist in spreading the truth. It is the science that deserves most to be held onto, and spread amongst all the various types of people within society until they firmly understand it and stay away from what opposes it.

I advise my brothers from the people of knowledge who call to Allah, the Glorified, to focus on this great foundation and to write about what they are able to in the form of articles and pamphlets until it is spread throughout mankind. Until the rulers and laypeople know the greatness of this issue and the seriousness of its importance…”

“…The first thing that the Messenger acted upon and established was calling the people to Tawheed and guiding them in detail on how to worship.

The statement that founded his call was ((none has the right to be worshipped other than Allah)). This was the beginning of the strong foundation along with the declaration that Muhammad was the Messenger of Allah…”

“…He, peace be upon him, stayed in Makkah for ten years supporting this statement and calling the people to Tawheed of Allah and to the abandonment of Shirk as well as calling to the removal of all idols (that were being worshipped). He explained the obligation set upon Jinn and men to worship Allah alone and to repel the idolatry that their fathers and ancestors had fallen into.

Most of the Muslim countries fell into idolatry because of the ignorance concerning their extremism in worshipping graves, especially the graves of those whom they called the Awliyaa (those who carry out the commands of Allah). They took the mosques as graves and directed most of their worship to the dead, acts such as supplication, seeking assistance, slaughtering, vowing, etc. And this was also due to their ignorance of this original foundation (concerning the divine legislation) as the majority of the Muslim countries have legislated man made ideas and laws (that oppose the divine legislation) in addition to their opposition of ruling by what Allah and His Messenger legislated which is the fairest and best of what has been legislated.”

Whose Repentence is Rejected?

Articles - Aqeedah

"Concerning these whose repentance will not be accepted, there were several opinions:

It was said that it is because of their hypocrisy, or because they repented from sins less grave than shirk but did not repent from shirk, or it was said that their repentance would never be accepted after death. But the majority, such as al-Hasan, Qataadah, ‘Ata’, al-Khorasaani and al-Suddi said: Their repentance will never be accepted when death comes to them. So this is like the verse in which Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil deeds until death faces one of them and he says: ‘Now I repent;’ nor of those who die while they are disbelievers” [al-Nisa’ 4:18].

And the same applies to the verse in which Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Verily, those who believe, then disbelieve, then believe (again), and (again) disbelieve, and go on increasing in disbelief; Allaah will not forgive them, nor guide them on the (right) way”

[al-Nisa’ 4:137].

Mujaahid and other mufassireen said: “and go on increasing in disbelief” means, they remain steadfast in that until they die.

I [Ibn Taymiyah] say: That is because the one who repents is giving up kufr, whereas the one who does not repent is persisting in it and adding kufr to kufr. The words “and go on increasing in disbelief” are like saying, they persisted in kufr and continued in kufr and remained in kufr. So they became disbelievers after becoming Muslim, then their kufr increased and did not grow less. The repentance of these people will not be accepted, referring to their repentance when they are dying, because the one who repents before death comes has repented soon enough and recanted his kufr, so it did not increase; rather it decreased, unlike the one who persisted in kufr until the time of death."

Higher Aims: Striving in Worship

Al Jumuah vol 10 issue 8/9

The Salaf have understood the Deen of Allah as well as the essence of this life and its inescapable leading to the Hereafter, so they felt aversion for the distractions and the tribulations of the world. They found no sleep and their heart kept away from desires. They kept above the insignificant concerns of life. Their biographies abound with stories that show their striving in righteousness, repentance and their strong will in worship and humbleness:

Al-Hasan al-Basri said, "Whoever competes with you in the Deen then try to surpass him, and whoever competes with you in the matters of this life then throw it back at him." Whenever he missed a Salah in congregation, Ibn Umar radhiallahu and used to fast one day, pray for one whole night, and free a slave .

Abu Musa al Ash'ari used to apply himself so much in worship a the end of his life that he was told, "Why don't you slow down and be gentle with yourself?" He replied, "When the horses are released for a race and are close to the finish line, they give all the strength they have. What is left of my life is less than that." He maintained the same level of devotion and worship until he died.

Mawriq al-'Ajli said, "I did not find an example, for the believer in this life, better than a man on a plank in the sea, imploring, 'O Lord, O Lord' hoping that Allah will save him."

Usamah said, "Whenever you see Sufyan ath-Thawri, it is as if you see someone in 'a ship fearing to drown,' one would often hear him say, 'O Lord, save me, save me!'."

Fatimah bint Abdil Malik, the wife of the Khalifah Umar ibn Abdil-Aziz said, "I have never seen a person offering salah or fasting more than he did, or a person fearing the Lord more than him. After offering Salat-ul-Isha, he would sit down and cry until he becomes sleepy, then he would wake up again and continue crying until sleep overtakes him."

Amir ibn Abdullah was once asked, "How can you tolerate being awake all night, and thirsty in the intense heat of the day?" He replied, "Is it anything more that postponing the food of the day to night-time, and the sleep of the night to daytime? This is not a big matter." When the night came, he would say, "Remembrance of the heat of hellfire has taken sleepiness from me." And he would not sleep until dawn.

Ahmad ibn Harb said, "I wonder how the one who knows that above him, paradise is being embellished, and below him, hell fire is being kindled, and yet sleeps between them!"

Waqi' said, "Al Amash was almost seventy years old and he never missed the first takbirah (for salah in the masjid). I used to visit him frequently for more than two years and never saw him make up for even one rakah."

Abu Hay an related that his father said, "Ar-Rabi" ibn Khuthaym was crippled and used to be carried to the congregational salah. So people told him, 'You have an excuse (for not coming)', he said, 'I hear "hayee 'alas-salah', the call to salah; so if you can come to it even by crawling, do so," paraphrasing a hadith.

Abul-Mawahib ibn Sarsari said concerning Imam abul-Qasim ibn Asakir, "I have never seen the like of him, and none had encompassed as many good characteristics as he did concerning his adherence to one way for forty years, making salah in the first row unless he had an excuse, i'tikaf during Ramadhan and the ten days of Thul-Hijjah, and the lack of desire to accumulate properties and build houses, as he forbade himself these. He turned away any position of imam or speaker, though they were offered to him, and he devoted himself to enjoin good and forbid evil, and he would not fear anyone in that."

Very much inspirational........but being like them is Insha Allah our aim......but

"Religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be extremists, but try to be near to perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded." Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 2, Number 38

Remember we took small steps when we first started to walk.......These are people who had knowledge in Allah's Deen......They had a greater iman because of their closeness to Allah through gaining knowledge in Allah and worshiping Him in every way ........As we gain knowledge in Allah's Deen....We get closer to Allah by making the knowledge which we gain into practice and continue it........

"The most beloved of deeds according to Allah are the continuous ones, even if they are little." [Agreed upon]

We will do our level best to gain a pleasing place in front of our Almighty Insha Allah.......May Allah lead us to right path Ameen

The One who knew me before ma birth
The One who gave me ma identity
The One who knows me from ma heart not from ma appearance
The One who guided me when i was wrong
The One who waits eagerly to forgive me when i ask
